These sessions take 1 hour each, choose any three to create a day of activities. History Unit 1: How are our toys different from those in the past? Home Life in Victorian Britain (washday)(1 hour session including trail) Domestic life in Victorian times was based on hard manual labour. Children will look at the equipment and processes used to cook and clean, comparing them with housework today and the use of primary evidence in the form of our extensive handling collection of original objects. This session includes activity sheets with illustrations of the objects that can be used to support memories and stimulate work back at school. Suitable for any age/ability. This session also includes a trail around the house. KS1 children are encouraged to find the silhouettes of a Victorian family. The trail for KS2 children looks at a typical large Victoria household, which includes photographs of both family members and servants hidden around Hall Place. Activities:
Toys and Games(1 hour session) A short history of toys and games from ancient times up to the Victorian period comparing 'old' toys with those of today. Most of this session involves children playing with different replica toys such as 1 whip and top, skittles, metal hoop and shove ha'penny. Suitable for any age/ability. Activities:
