Winter Warmers Lunches

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in February 2010

£14.50 per person

At Danson House we thought that February was a month in which people would need cheering up! What better way to beat the winter blues than with a hearty two-course hot meal in the charming tea room at Danson?

Join us as we offer fine, home cooked food that will certainly put a smile on your face. Pre-booking for these lunches is essential.  Tables can be booked for 12.30pm or 1pm. Choice of lunch must be selected at the time of booking. Deposit of £5 per person required when booking. Balance paid on the day. Doors open at 12.15pm.

Every guest at the Winter Warmers lunches will receive a voucher for 2 for the price of 1 entry to Danson House for use during the 2010 open season.

Week One: Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd February

A: Turkey and ham pie
B: Winter vegetable crumble
Both served with seasonal vegetables and mini roast potatoes.
C: Rice pudding
D: Lemon and syrup sponge and custard

Week Two: Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th February

A: Beef cobbler
B: Vegetable hot pot
Both served with cabbage, carrots and mashed potato.
C: Apple pie and custard
D: Lemon meringue pie and cream

Week Three: Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th February

A: Normandy pork with apples and celery
B: Salmon with lemon butter
C: Stuffed aubergines
All served with new potatoes and green beans.
D: Sticky toffee pudding
and custard
E: Fruit pancakes and cream

Week Four: Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th February

A: Roast chicken
B: Leek, stilton and mushroom tart
Both served with seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes.
C: Eve’s pudding and custard
D: Strawberry trifle and cream

Mothering Sunday Lunch

The delightful Breakfast Room will be hosting a special three-course roast lunch on Mothering Sunday, where you can enjoy fine, home-cooked food that will really show your mum how special she is.

Plus every guest at the Mothering Sunday lunch will receive a voucher on the day for 2 for the price of 1 entry to Danson House (for use during the 2010 season) so you can come back later in the year to enjoy the whole house together.

Christmas Lunches

Monday 6th - Friday 17th December (weekdays only)
From 12.30pm. £26 per person

Relax and enjoy the run up to the festive season with an opportunity to tour the house, decorated for a Georgian Christmas. Dine on a delicious home-made four-course Christmas meal in the delightful Breakfast Room and visit the shop stocked with distinctive ceramics, linens and other gifts, hand selected for their quality.

Pre-booking for these lunches is essential. Christmas lunches are VERY popular so please book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets for all festive events will be on sale from 1st June 2010. Tables can be booked for 12.30pm or 1pm. Doors open at 12.15pm. Tour of the house starts at 2.30pm.

Lecture with Lunch: An Invitation to a Georgian Christmas

An Invitation to a Georgian Christmas with Mr Adams the Butler

Join us throughout the year for a series of enthralling lectures followed by a two-course hot lunch in the Danson tearoom. Afterwards, enjoy a chance to explore the house with a guided tour and indulge in the gift shop. There will be a limited number of tickets for the lecture only (no tour included) at £10 per person.

Mr Adams delights in explaining the ‘honours of the table’, the complex processes and etiquette associated with food and dining as well as traditions, customs and practices associated with Christmas as it was celebrated in the late Georgian and Regency period. Tales of rich foods and festivities are complemented by seasonal products and decorations. Choice of lunch must be selected at the time of booking

Order for the day for all Lectures with Lunch:

Arrive at Danson at 11am for coffee, followed at 11.30am by the lecture. Lunch will be served at 1pm, with coffee. At 2.30pm there will be a guided tour of the house. The gift shop, stocked with excellent gifts and books will remain open until 4pm.

A:  Meatballs in tomato sauce, served with buttered mash and seasonal vegetables
B:  Roast pork chop, roast potatoes and vegetables
C:  Stuffed aubergines, served with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables

Join us throughout the year for a series of enthralling lectures followed by atwo-course hot lunch in the Danson tearoom. Afterwards, enjoy a chance to explore the house with a guided tour and indulge in the gift shop. There will be a limited number of tickets for the lecture only (no tour included) at £10 per person.

Returning from a stroll about town, Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy prepares to undress… (Nearly) all will be revealed in this hugely popular presentation about the clothes of a Regency gentleman.  Choice of lunch must be selected at the time of booking.

Order for the day for all Lectures with Lunch:

Murder Mystery Evening

Murder at Danson House!

7pm for a champagne reception, carriages at 11pm.
£45 per person

For the first time at Danson we will be hosting a traditional Murder Mystery Evening. Be transported back to the 1930s for a mystery, where a shocking, dastardly deed unfolds before you.
Become a super sleuth who’s fully involved in the investigation or sit back and relax as others do the work during an exclusive three course meal served in the beautiful Georgian Dining Room.

The year is 1932; the setting is the home of the Bean family. Miss Marjorie Bean lives in the house, whilst trusted family lawyer, Humphrey Laslow, carefully looks after the fortune. Humphrey has decided to show his charitable side and has formed a club – ‘The Society for the Rehabilitation of Fallen Women’. One of Marjorie’s friends, a private investigator has been invited to regale the guests with gruesome tales of their trade. With the dinner party in full swing, disaster strikes!

Dress code: Lounge suit or come in 1930s costume to add to the atmosphere!
Tickets include: the champagne reception, three course meal (see menu below) and white wine and juice on the table.

Starter: Salmon mousse
Main Course: Beef Wellington
(or Apricot, Chestnut and Mushroom slice [v])
Dessert: Spiced Apple pancakes
