Danson Opens for 2008 Season

Danson House opened to the public for the 2008 season on Sunday 16th March with a special day of living history that was enjoyed by all who attended.

Visitors met Private Pudge, a veteran of the Peninsular Wars, heard his tales of life on the campaign and were able to look closely at an assortment of military equipment.

The Victorian Kitchen was open, and many visitors enjoyed the “Victorian Kitchenalia Quiz” where they could try to identify mystery objects - including a patented marmalade maker, a beer warmer and a knife cleaner.

The 2008 open season began with a new mini-exhibition on the uncomfortable truth about Victorian fashion. The display of underwear was opened, showcasing corsets, crinolines, bustles and other items of ladies fashion. This exhibition will continue to be on display for the next couple of months at the house.
