Making a Victorian Home: A New Era for Danson

Sunday 5th April, 11am – 5pm

Special discounted entry for today only - £4.50 per person

No advance booking required.

Join Bexley Heritage Trust as we celebrate the new open season at Danson House.  You can explore the magnificent Georgian house and landscaped gardens for a special discounted entry price of £4.50 per person.
For one day only view our collection of Victorian photographs and see how Danson’s fine Georgian interiors were transformed into a grand Victorian home during the 19th century: from elegant splendour to the charm and clutter of the Victorian Drawing Room. Get to know the family who made a house a home with private portraits of the Bean family at home on the estate.  Rare photographs show parts of the estate now lost, astounding interiors and moments captured in time, such as ice skating on the Danson Lake in February 1895.
Bexley Heritage Trust’s curatorial staff will also show visitors a selection of architectural salvage removed by English Heritage during our restoration project and stored as a record of Danson as a Victorian home. From plasterwork mouldings to ‘modern’ gas lamps discover Danson’s hidden Victorian history.
