Bexley Museum Collection

Bexley Heritage Trust is responsible for the care and management of Bexley’s extensive museum collection, comprising over 50,000 objects all of relevance to Bexley’s history.

Although currently we can only display a small proportion of the collection we hope as part of our development project to greatly increase the amount on display.

A significant part of the collection is on display at Erith Museum, above Erith Library.

At Hall Place we hold regular exhibitions based around the collection, and the displays around the house are changed frequently and allow us to showcase some of the intriguing objects we hold.

The curator is always happy to talk about the collection or to deal with enquiries.

Particular areas of interest in the collection include:

The Boswell Collection
The Byron Collection
The Chambers Collection
The Packer Collection
The Mobo Collection

We work closely with Local Studies in Bexleyheath who deal with historical records and can be contacted via the Bexley Council website.

Guide to donating items to the Museum

We are always interested to consider possible acquisitions. Our objective is to gather items of relevance to Bexley and also to build a balanced collection. If you have something that you think might be of interest we’d love to hear from you. Please call us on 01322 526574 or email us on curator@hallplace.com and we can arrange to view your object and discuss it with you. If we accept an object, we want to find out as much about its history as possible and you as the owner will be the best person to tell us that.
